Early Childhood Family Education (birth through age 5) is a family-centered program that blends parent education with child-focused, play-based activities. Caregivers gain practical strategies to foster language, social-emotional development, and healthy daily routines, while building supportive community connections.

An Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple way to check how your 3 to 5 year-old is growing, learning, and developing. Screenings are free and can help detect possible health or learning problems so that children can get help they need before starting kindergarten. An Early Childhood Screening, or a similar health and developmental screening, is required for your child to enter kindergarten in Minnesota public schools. What is Early Childhood Screening? Early childhood Screening is a simple check of your child's development. Screeners will take the time to check your child's height, weight, vision, and hearing along with their social/emotional skills, language skills, motor and cognitive skills. Screening is FREE and takes about an hour to complete. Watch this 5-minute video: What is Early Childhood Screening Who should be screened? Any child between the age of 3 and 5 years old (before kindergarten entrance) should be screened. The ideal age to screen is 3 years, 6 months old. Screening is required prior to kindergarten entrance with the goal that students are ready for kindergarten. If a concern or delay is identified at screening, we may be able to provide resources and services to your child, prior to kindergarten. How do I schedule a screening for my child? Early Childhood Screenings are offered four times during the school year. Kimball Area Play & Learn Preschool and Enrichment fee-based programs support parents in the education of the whole child byinstilling a love for learning and providing an environment filled with opportunities for social and emotional development. Our 4-Star Parent Aware Rated Preschool program also provides students with units of instruction rich in language, mathematics, music and movement, preparing students for a positive educational start. Kimball Play & Learn Preschool offers ALL DAY preschool, two or three days per week, for students who are 4 and 5 years old. We continue to offer HALF DAY preschool classes, two days per week, for students who are age 3 by September 1, 2026 and turning 4 that same year. Enrichment Program - Wrap Around Care (3-5 Years of Age) Enrichment is available to provide preschoolers a caring learning environment during the hours they are not in preschool.
